Products

Rice forms an indispensable staple of the diet of nearly 80% of the population of south Asia. But unfortunately it is perceived that rice is not medically conducive for people suffering from hyperglycemia, commonly known as diabetes, as the sheer presence of carbohydrates in rice is a serious contributor in elevating blood sugar levels in the human body.

We at First Choice, with a single minded motivation, born of a deep desire to contribute meaningfully to health care, have developed a product that is a helpful for managing hyperglycemia, who otherwise, would have had to keep rice out of their daily menu.

Our product is a result of intense and sustained scientific research spread over many years. It conforms to international standards of quality and serves as a vital health promoting staple in the daily diet of adults and children alike.

Product Uniqueness

One of the most important properties of our product is its low Glycemic index (GI). Ideal for the management of diabetes and obesity.

Has higher content of dietary fiber than other Non-Basmati and Basmati varieties. Dietary fiber is essential for good colon health and reduces blood cholesterol levels.

Has recorded rich protein content (10.09%) among different non-Basmati and Basmati varieties.

Is rich in iron and useful for population who have inherent iron deficiency.

Has recorded comparatively rich in mineral contents like potassium, calcium and phosphorus.

Sensory analysis of our product shows:

         -  4 to 5.5 times volume expansion

GI and GL Concept

Glycemic Index (GI)

The glycemic index or GI is a numerical scale used to indicate how fast and how high a particular food can raise our blood glucose (blood sugar) level.

Glycemic index is especially useful to people with diabetes who want to plan their diets to minimize the incidence of high blood glucose.

Certain types of food rich in carbohydrates cause the blood sugar levels to rise rapidly while others have a gradual effect. This means that the blood glucose levels are affected differently by simple carbohydrates and complex carbohydrates. A food with a low GI will typically promote a moderate rise in blood glucose, while a food with high GI may cause blood glucose level to increase above the optimal level.

High GI foods are rapidly absorbed, cause a sudden rise in the blood sugar level and generate a demand for insulin. Hence the GI of foods may be eventually linked with diabetes, obesity and heart diseases.

- Food slowly digested and absorbed= Low GI

- Food quickly digested and absorbed =High GI

GI >70

High GI Foods

GI>55 and< 70

Moderate or Medium GI Foods

GI<55

Low GI Foods

It has been found that the Glycemic Index of tgrDIA RICE is <55%, which is much lower than normal rice whose GI ranges between 70 and 80%.

GLYCEMIC LOAD (GL)

The Glycemic Load (GL) is a relatively new way to assess the impact of carbohydrate consumption on blood sugar levels and takes into consideration the active carbohydrate content per serving of food in addition to the Glycemic Index of that food.

A GI value tells us how rapidly a particular carbohydrate turns into sugar but doesn't tell how much of that carbohydrate is in a serving of that particular food. We need to know both to understand the effect of food on blood sugar. This understanding can be obtained from the glycemic load of the food.

GL > 20

GL >11 and < 20

 Medium GL Foods
